Entering the U.S. and COVID-19 Travel Requirements

This proclamation contains essential information regarding your international travel and re-entry to the U.S.

  • All air travelers entering the U.S. 18 years old or older must submit proof of vaccination. See a list of accepted vaccinations  here. We recommend bringing your paper CDC card when traveling, as we do not know if a copy or picture on your phone of your vaccination card will be accepted for travel.
  • Students who are not yet vaccinated may be eligible to receive an exception to this requirement based on their country of citizenship.  Find a full list of countries with exemptions here.

  • Unvaccinated travelers who meet these exceptions will be required to agree to become fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon entry to the U.S.

  • Students who have certain medical conditions or have received a vaccine that is not on the current list of accepted vaccinations may also qualify for an exception. Please read the full proclamation to see if you are eligible for an exception.

  • If you have any issues re-entering the U.S., contact ISSS at isss@temple.edu

  • If it’s after business hours, contact Temple police at 215-204-1234. They will contact an ISSS staff member.

In addition to the new federal requirements, the Philadelphia Health Department requires all people at colleges and universities in the city to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. All students need to provide proof of a COVID-19 vaccine prior to the beginning of the spring 2022 semester in order to participate in in-person, on-campus learning and activities. If you are not yet vaccinated but are permitted entry to the U.S., you will be required to submit a temporary medical exemption while completing a COVID-19 vaccine series. You will be subject to the university’s COVID-19 testing program until you are fully vaccinated. We will be in touch with more details about how to provide your vaccine information.
